4th of July Weekend
FRIDAY
MADE SOME EGG’S BENEDICT IN THE MORNING. IT WAS DELICIOUS. Then drove down to Orange County to beach bum it for a day. Huntington State Beach was a big fail because all of LA/Orange County decided to go there, so Rich, Kenny & I drove down to Newport instead. I’d say the situation worked out for the better because, in my opinion, Newport is a lot nicer than Huntington. Elaine, Joey, Ferd & Rich’s homegirl Marina eventually joined us. Peppered with the volleyball, swam in the cold ass water to chase some waves, chilled/got dark, threw around a football, made a dope ass sandcastle + trenches. Cherry topped the night off with yummy nomnoms/shitty service at Guppy’s in Cerritos.
SATURDAY
Went on a run around USC campus in the AM. Spent the early PM cleaning out my closet, organizing notes, and sizing up how much crap I am going to bring home. Rich & I then left the apartment to go to Katie C’s for some bacon wrapped hot dogs, sweet corn on the cob, watermelon (How do you make love to a watermelon?), Coronas, Framboise, and to go calamansi picking. We then headed to the Mejia residence for more food and beer, mostly bacon wrapped. Watched the Burbank fireworks show on their front lawn. Played Texas Hold’em for the first time in more than a year, but got ousted as 3rd Place finisher. Kenny is the most wreckless gambler I know. Stuck around the play with the nephews. Got home around 2am
SUNDAY.
Woke up in the butt crack of dawn to watch one of the most amazing tennis matches ever played. I felt really bad for Andy Roddick after the match, but damn Roger Federer is such a douchey-looking beast.
Rich & I drove down to San Diego. kinda. We stopped by San Juan Capistrano on the way down to SD to take a tour of the mission. It was more amazing that I expected. We then drove down the PCH along the beach towns in South Orange County and North San Diego County. We then drove down to Old Town San Diego just to check it out (and because Rich has already been to Downtown, Balboa Park, Coronado, etc.). Luckily we got there at 4:45pm, just in time for Sunday Mass at 5:15pm. We then drove back up to Oceanside to go to Valentina’s for some Mejia-endorsed carne asada fries. DOPE DOPE DOPE BEATS LOLITA’S LIKE CHRIS BROWN DID RIHANNA. Sorry. Bad joke.
We then hit ugly ass traffic. Took almost an hour to travel less than 15 miles after passing Camp Pendleton. Instead of driving straight back to LA, we took a pit stop in Irvine to visit Ferd at work. Holler at free boba! Finally got back to LA around 11pm and knocked out ridiculously early (before 1am on my standards/habits) due to the lack of sleep from the night before.
Overall: Awesome weekend.
I’m beginning to forget my daily happenings. I blame the monotony/homogeneity of my weekday schedule looking ridiculously similar from day-to-day (breakfast, work, gym, dinner, chill). Oh well. Time to blog more often.
P.S. 13 days until I leave Los Angeles. The emotions are starting to rush in. No homo.
