NYE 2011: Chilled with the Godfamilia playing drunk Apples to Apples and drunk Dance Central until 4AM.
01/01/11: Flew back to LA, first class. Got smashed on the way to Denver. Continued the festivities while waiting for my connecting flight to LA. Great way to start the new year.

5 Takeaways from Hawaii
I was asked if I was Military at least 10+ times during my trip. I ask myself if I will venture down that path every day.
I am not proud that I opted out of PT (aka 7+ miles of running while singing cadences) with Mark’s cousin’s husband at 0530 on Monday morning.
I will get buff like those dudes from the Paradse Cove Lu’au, with takeaway #1 as a primary motivator, and...

Update on life:
I work 80+ hours a week. If I am lucky, I get 4-6 hours of sleep a night. I try to fit in working out/running in between. When I am not at work, I am usually at the Mejia house. The end.

2009 in Retrospect
Never got a chance to post this until now. Keeping up with tradition since 2005. 1) Was 2009 a good year for you? Again, the innate optimist says yes. A few apparent road bumps, but I’m still here, and for that, I am thankful. 2) What was your favorite moment of the year? USC Commencement Week 2009. 3) What was your least favorite moment of the year? Long story. If you’re important to...
I have a lot on my mind; therefore, I will write. Eventually.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a workaholic.
While en route to a second Christmas party, my boss called me at 5:30PM asking me to come in to the office to take care of an emergency situation. 30 minutes later, I am at the IMAX Office pretty much saving everyone’s asses.
I have been on the phone with one of the full-time guys walking through some of the most crucial aspects needed by...
I haven’t updated this thing with something substantial in a really long time.

Twitter History, Part II
yay for Vegas and not paying for drinks at Pure. boo for the douche who stole my cell phone while I was losing money playing poker. 3:30 PM Jan 25th from web
MLK Weekend 2009 was my 4th time in Vegas since turning 21 (6th time overall). This time it was for my homegirl Kathrina’s 21st. Good times as always. Stayed at the Pink rooms of Flamingo. Tao in the Venetian for night one. Pure in...
Perusing my old Tweets, I write most about 1. sports (USC football/NY Yankees in particular); 2. insomnia; 3. the gym/working out/running; 4. food; 5. Vegas.
Man, I miss Vegas.
Twitter History, Part I
Since insomnia rears its ugly head every time I don’t take my sleeping pills, I decided to go through my Twitter account to delete any facetious updates where I cannot recall the context which merited the Tweet.
While going through these text message-sized updates, I realized how convenient Twitter can be to relive moments in your life that you wanted to declare to the world at the top of...
Interview for a potential job, or go to the Philippines? The answer is obvious.

I can’t believe this post hasn’t been reblogged more.
I’m sipping a scummy pint of cloudy beer in the back of a trendy dive bar turned nightclub in the heart of the city’s heroin district. In front of me stand a gang of hippiesh grunge-punk types, who crowd around each other and collectively scoff at the smoking...

22nd Birthday Resolutions
Greet friends on their birthdays (starting today, September 20) via text if I have their numbers (via Facebook if I don’t).
Hello! How about that ride in? I guess that’s why they call it Sin City....
My life will never feel complete, as my life is split between two coasts.
P.S. I love how it seems that everyone in Jersey City knows (or knows of) each other, but when you see someone (especially for the first time after 4+ years), you don’t know whether to say what up or to pretend you never saw them because we’re mad shady like that. Welcome home. haha

My Daily Routine
8AM Wake Up. 10AM Cook/Eat Breakfast. 11AM Research/Digest. 12PM Run/Bike/Lift/(Swim?). 4PM Snack/Light Lunch. 5PM Research/Job Hunt. 7PM Dinner/Yankees/Research/Job Hunt. 12AM Read/Intrawebz/Watch TV. 4AM Insomnia. Repeat.
This is my first time unemployed in over 5 years. It’s not fun. Nor is the job hunt for nonexistent jobs in my field. May end up applying for lab technician jobs at...
Almost ready to tell my parents my post-grad plans: Naval/Army OCS. Time to figure out which one I’d prefer. And which one would benefit more from the service of a college graduate with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering (Bioelectronics).
I might want to go back to SoCal to find a job now that I know everything is okay at home. The biomedical job market there is bigger and more diverse than the one here in New Jersey.
In retrospect (4 years later…) I should’ve applied to USNA had I known my good friend(s) in HS would chicken out halfway through the application process. I would not be in the predicament I am in right now had I done so, assuming they would have accepted me.
It’s only been 2 weeks (and I hate to say it), but I miss Los Angeles.

Level 3: Brothers
(NB: Adapted from Men’s Health, May 2009 issue. Article originally pertaining to different levels of relationship with your boss, but, with minor edits/word omission, this passage can relate universally to all bromances.)
Over the years, two individuals may grow very close in the forge of conflict, daily labor, and mutual self-interest, sharing the same goals, dreams, allies, and enemies....
4th of July Weekend
FRIDAY
MADE SOME EGG’S BENEDICT IN THE MORNING. IT WAS DELICIOUS. Then drove down to Orange County to beach bum it for a day. Huntington State Beach was a big fail because all of LA/Orange County decided to go there, so Rich, Kenny & I drove down to Newport instead. I’d say the situation worked out for the better because, in my opinion, Newport is a lot nicer than Huntington....

But where were y’all when the U.S. gave up a 1-nil lead to lose 3-1 against Italy at the beginning of the Cup?
Content to go home, but never ready to say goodbye. Making the most of my last 4 weeks in Los Angeles. Make it count.
Update on Life
(Almost) Exactly one month before I move back to Jersey City indefinitely.
What have I been doing?
Slowly checking things off my LA To Do List.
Working on an SOP as my last project for work.
Training for OCS.
…the end.
Well, not exactly. This past week, I had friends from JC come through to LA. We’re going to Vegas this weekend. Yes, this is my bajillionth time going since...
Insomnia-Inspired Bucket List Mission
I couldn’t sleep last night/this morning, so around 5:30am, I made an impulse decision to go hiking at Griffith Observatory and have breakfast at this place i’ve been meaning to go to for some awesome egg’s benedict.
Parked at Fern Dell and Los Feliz, like Yelp told me to do. The hike up to Griffith Observatory was surprisingly easy. I didn’t know what to expect, so I...
No homo, but as much as I talk shit/hate on this place, I’m really going to miss Los Angeles.
But, on the opposite end of the spectrum, tonight’s drunken phone call to some of my best friends in Jersey City proves that I have something to return home to. Somewhat despising my bicoastal lifestyle, yet again.
I Wear Timbs in LA
A future post dedicated to my sometimes stubborn necessity to rep Jersey hard as hell while I spent the past four years in Los Angeles… and my silent transformation into an odd amalgamation of East-meets-West with a strong desire to go from bi-coastal to inter-coastal.
Looking to get back in the introspective groove. These late nights need to be more productive than my nightly screenings of...
